I kind of love this song. If this were playing at the club, I'd get down. I'm also amazed at what Ciara can do with her body! My gosh, she's limber. And the girl looks Dangerous.

KNOTAN
I recently came across the work of Swedish photographer Knotan, and was instantly intrigued. His shots have an erotic edge but also a sense of humor. I love his raw, un-retouched style. It's reminiscent of Terry Richardson's photographs, but with his own unique look and style. On a side note, the first image is of one of my favorite pop stars, Annie. I love her.

Iconic Fashion Moments: Alexander McQueen & Shalom Harlow
I've decided to create a new segment on my blog dedicated to iconic moments in fashion. There are so many iconic moments, from Naomi Campbell's infamous spill at Vivienne Westwood to Alexander McQueen's human chess board and Kate Moss hologram to Hussein Chalayan's furniture as clothing. I'll be highlighting all of these and more in the weeks to come.
First up is Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 1999 show with Shalom Harlow. Robotic arms + spray paint + Shalom Harlow equals a truly iconic moment in fashion.

You're Gonna Fit Right In
Just thought I'd share some new-ish tracks from one of my idols, Debbie Harry. She really paved the way for women in pop music, in my humble opinion. Without her, there might not have been a Madonna or a Kylie.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs release video for "Zero"!
Ahhhhh, I love this video so much!! I ADORE Karen O., and "It's Blitz!" is already one of my favorite albums of '09. When asked about the meaning of "Zero" Karen replies, "'Zero''s sentiment is to revel in being you -- you're a zero so screw it! It's the underdogs, the rebels, the outsiders that have always captivated me growing up so I decided why not flaunt that side of myself in the video."

Vivienne Westwood... featuring Pam Anderson?
Pamela Anderson is featured in the new ads for Vivienne Westwood Man, shot by Juergen Teller. Although Vivienne Westwood is one of my all-time favorite designers, I'm not too thrilled with the new ads. I love the ads for her Gold Label and Anglomania collections, but I suppose that her men's collection has to appeal to... men. Still, I think someone like Róisín Murphy or Lily Donaldson or Tanya D. would have major appeal to both men and fashion buffs.

New Patrick Wolf Album - "The Bachelor"
Patrick began work on his next album "The Bachelor" immediately after The Magic Position tour ended. Originally conceived as a political album in an official Myspace blog, it has since been revealed that Patrick entered a period of depression during the tour, and began to focus his songwriting for the next album on this. However, before entering the studio, Patrick fell in love, changing the direction of the album and eventually having enough material for two releases. On December 10, 2008, Wolf announced to NME his plan to sell £10 shares of his new album "The Bachelor" on Bandstocks.com. Wolf told NME, “Basically, you can invest in the finishing of the album and the production of it, and you get a share in the album. So you almost become part of the record company, like a co-owner of the album.”
In his advocation of liberal music, Wolf parted ways with Universal records and in an act of removing the hierarchy between the musician and the audience, joined Bandstocks.com. The website is currently advertising numerous independant artists and previewing their material in order to gain attraction from prospective investors. A 7 minute preview of "The Bachelor" is currently available on the website, containing all new material, revealing several of the new album's titles. The track 'Theseus' features the actress Tilda Swinton. The previewed tracks are the following; 'Battle', 'Vulture', 'Theseus', 'Hard Times', 'Who Will?', 'The Sun Is Often Out', 'Damaris', 'Together'. The album is due out June 1, 2009.

Kitsuné Collection Spring/Summer 2009
Kitsuné is a French electronic music label that also has its own clothing line. Being a huge fan of the Kitsuné Maison Compilations (I have the entire Kitsuné Maison series), I'd love to get my hands on some of the new pieces from the Kitsuné clothing line. It's all very easy to wear but with a refined edge. The only problem is that it's not available anywhere in Canada, but their men's collection is available to purchase online from studiohomme.com

"The Blonds" Have More Fun
Philippe and David Blond are a pair of New York designers known for their flamboyant, embellished, and very glamorous creations. With an attention to craftsmanship and an eye for detail, The Blonds have garnered a vast celebrity clientèle, including stars like Róisín Murphy, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Debbie Harry. Be prepared to see more of The Blonds, because I have a feeling they're the new Heatherette.

Former Sufjan Stevens and Polyphonic Spree collaborator Annie Clark (aka. St. Vincent) returns with her second studio album, Actor, released on May 5. Hella Good!
I am very excited... I'll be seeing No Doubt this summer, on my birthday!! My friend Elaine and I scored some pretty decent seats today, and I'm stoked! Can't wait to see Gwen and the gang tear it up on stage. I grew up listening to No Doubt, I remember when Tragic Kingdom came out and everyone was into "Don't Speak". "Return Of Saturn" is my personal favorite No Doubt album. LOVED the single "New", and LOVED the video for it!

Isabella Rossellini's Green Porno
One of my favorite actresses, Isabella Rossellini, has released a series of short films titled "Green Porno". In them, she re-enacts the mating rituals of a variety of insects, including dragonfly, bee, praying mantis, fly, and spider. These films were screened at the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival, and you can view all the short films online on the Sundance Film Channel. Not only are they hilarious, but you might learn a thing or two as well!

Lara Stone Gets Naughty
Supermodel Lara Stone appears in a controversial photo shoot for the February 2009 issue of Vogue Paris, photographed by Steven Klein. I love when editorial shoots push viewers out of their comfort zone. It creates buzz and encourages discussion. Love it? Hate it? (Click on images for a larger view. The last one is particularly interesting).
