In more V Magazine news, I just came across this editorial with Kate Moss and gypsies. Issue #61 is just PACKED with goodness. GaGa, Kate, Linda Evangelista, and the amazing New York shoot with Sasha and Freja. Pick up your copy this September. Do it.
I was blown away by this editorial in the new issue of V Magazine, shot by Mario Sorrenti and featuring Sasha Pivovarova and Freja Beha Erichsen, two of my favorite models. I love the energy and the angles in each shot. The new issue of V looks like a great one, indeed. http://www.vmagazine.com/
In anticipation of Madonna's Greatest Hits compilation being released this September, I've been going back and revisiting all my favorite songs from Her Madgesty. So many great songs with so many great memories attached to them. Who can forget the controversy of the "Like A Prayer" video, or the scandal that her "SEX" book caused? And who can forget VOGUE!! And Ray Of Light, Music, and Confessions... I could go on and on.
But here's my favorite Madonna video, "Deeper And Deeper" from the Erotica album. It's an ode to Andy Warhol, Madonna plays Edie Sedgwick in the video. I love it. Enjoy.
I bought a new watercolor pad yesterday, I've been feeling creative and this is the first new drawing I've done in a while. I'm rather happy with it. Click to view full size.
Fritz Helder & The Phantoms completely sum up everything I love and everything I stand for. They serve up the perfect combination of art, music, fashion and dance all wrapped up in a pink bow. This is the music I listen to when I strut down the street. This is the music that encourages me to be outrageous and dress UP. Thanks, Fritz. xxx
Fan Death is a duo comprised of Dandilion Wind Opaine and Marta Jaciubek-McKeever. Based out of Vancouver, Fan Death create post-millenial disco that's reminiscent of the late 70’s era in an almost eerie sense of authenticity. Of course, I'm obsessed with them. Their EP is due out this fall, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
One of the best mix CDs I've heard in a while, A-Trak's Infinity +1 features some of my favorite artists, such as MSTRKRFT, Kid Sister, Little Boots, The Golden Filter, and Sébastien Tellier. If you want a solid hour of intergalactic-disco, don't miss it.
I've always been very attracted to the glamour of old Hollywood. I love the look of the 20s and 30s, the drama, the glamour, the perfectly arched brows, enormous lashes, and bowtie lips. I love women in make-up. It's so inspiring, and truly timeless. It doesn't hurt that my idol, Alison Goldfrapp, has adopted the look as her own and given it a modern twist, mixing the classic beauty of old Hollywood with the decadence and excess of disco and Studio 54. The video for "Ooh La La" is perfection. This is the look.
By the end of this week, I will be the proud owner of this fabulous poncho from the GREYHOUND collection (worn in the first picture by my model friend Julia). I can't wait to slip into the warm comfort of soft mohair and be encased in a luxury cocoon (complete with gold zipper!). It's the perfect purchase for fall, and I'm so excited.
